Annoucements

1.HAND WASHING CAMPAIGN

As myself and Karim have announced, our batch has been given a project to do for this semester called the Hand Washing Campaign.

It's purpose is to instill awareness amongst the IMU population regarding the importance of hand-washing!

Volunteers are require to meet Dr Ranjit on Monday ( April 13th) at 3.00pm in Faculty Cluster 2 (2nd floor). He will be using one of the discussion rooms there.

It's just gonna be a brain-storming session about what can be done to increase student's awareness on this issue and to remind them to always wash their hands (effectively).

It won't take much time and effort so I enocurage as many people as possible to participate in this public health project.

5.MEETING WITH PANEL EXPERT ON REVIEW OF ASSESMENT IN MEDICAL PROGRAMME

Dear All,

We need some student representatives for the Meeting with Students session during the PEAC Review of Assessment in the Medical Programme.

The Professional Education Advisory Committee (PEAC) of the International Medical University (IMU) was established to provide advice and guidance to the IMU on all matters relating to the education and training of students enrolled in the professional undergraduate, postgraduate and continuing professional development (CPD) programmes of the IMU. The membership of the committee includes some of the leading international and Malaysian educationists and deans of schools of the IMU. The current members of the PEAC are Prof Roger Green (UK) who is the Chair, Prof John Marley (Australia) and Prof Karen Mann (Canada).

PEAC will normally have one main meeting a year. In addition to the main meeting there will normally be two assignments each of approximately one week duration. These will involve review of topics identified in advance. A relevant external expert and one PEAC member would comprise the team for these assignments. These reviews will be scheduled over the year.

For the year 2009 we have identified Review of Assessment in the Medical Programme as one of the assignments. We have invited two panel experts for this assignment which are Professor Roger Green from University of Manchester and Professor Anne Tonkin from the University of Adelaide.

The visit will take four days from Monday, 27 April to Thursday, 30 April 2009. The programmes would include presentations from the Deans, Inspection of Document for Examinations and Interviews with staff and students.

Therefore, could you arrange for five students from each batch to meet the panel expert on Tuesday, 28 April 2009? The meeting will be held at the Board Room (Room 2.17.02, 2nd Floor) at the following time:

10:45 - 11:45am - Meeting with Semeter 1 and Semester 2 Students

11:4 - 12:45 noon - Meeting with Semester 3, 4 and 5 Students

Please select five students from each batch and inform me of their names by Thursday, 16 April 2009.

Thanks and do call/e-mail me if any further clarification is needed in this matter.

Yours sincerely,
Zia Shah
